Quantum Frederick is a 2,100-acre hyperscale data center campus on the former Alcoa Eastalco Works site near Adamstown and Buckeystown. County economic development officials say it is planned for about 17.4 million sq ft and 2.4 GW. Original developer Quantum Loophole was removed as manager after a 2024 lawsuit, and TPG Real Estate Partners and Catellus took over. Aligned broke ground on a 72 MW building in February 2025. In September 2026, County Executive Jessica Fitzwater rejected a proposed development agreement that offered $110 million in community benefits in exchange for zoning protections.
