Meta is building an $800 million data center, known during development as Project Cosmo, on a 960-acre parcel in the High Plains Business Park in south Cheyenne. It is expected to go online in 2027. In 2026 the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities traced a bacterial contamination of the city's reuse water system to the project's fill-and-flush operations and stopped accepting that wastewater from data centers.
