Homer City Redevelopment is converting the former Homer City coal plant into a 3,200-acre AI data center campus powered by a planned 4.4–4.5 GW natural gas plant with seven GE Vernova 7HA.02 turbines. The project is reported at $10 billion. Pennsylvania DEP issued the air quality plan approval on November 18, 2025; environmental groups and a group of young residents have appealed it. More than 1,800 workers were on site as of September 2026, first power is targeted for early 2028, and no data center tenant has been named.
